Stop "Click" Sounds From being Recorded

Solution

revised June 2012

This tutorial will discuss how the annoying "click" sound can be avoided in recordings.

Windows incorporates a number of sounds to notify users about particular events. The "click" sound you hear in the room when moving from one presentation page (for example, advancing from one PowerPoint slide to the next) ... a sound that is repeated in recorded archives ... is a Windows Explorer Start Navigation event.

You can eliminate that sound as follows:

  1. Click the Windows Start button
  2. Choose the Control Panel
  3. In Category view:
    1. Select Hardware and Sound
    2. Choose Change System Sounds
  4. IN Iconview
    1. Choose Sound
  5. Click the Sounds button
  6. Scroll down to the Windows Explorer section
  7. Find Start Navigation - end of the Windows Explorer list
  8. Choose None in the Sounds list
  9. Click Apply
  10. Click OK

The above instructions are for Windows 7 and may be slightly different with other versions of Windows.
