Starting Desktop Sharing on a Remote Computer.

Desktop Sharing is a feature of the technology used to show the content of a users desktop to the guests in the room.

In this article I will explain how to start and use Desktop Sharing on a remote computer. This procedure can be used to start Desktop Sharing on any remote computer logged into the room. Since non-moderators cannot start Desktop Sharing themselves this procedure is usually used to start Desktop Sharing on the computers of non-moderator.

The remote user must approve the request to start Desktop sharing on their computer.

The Steps:

  1. Log into the room as a moderator .
  2. Move your mouse over the user you will request the starting Desktop Sharing.
  3. Right clink on the user selected above.
  4. Click Ask user to share desktop.
  5. The user will be prompted with user name would like to see your your computer desktop. Do you allow this?
  6. To grant starting Desktop Sharing on their computer the remote user will click Yes

Desktop Sharing will start on the remote computer and the online audience will see everything on the remote desktop.

Taking control of the remote computer

There may be times when you wish to take control of the remote computer. The remote user must approve the request to take over their computer.

The Steps:

  1. Desktop Sharing must be running on the remote computer.
  2. Right click anywhere in the co-browser area on your computer and select Ask user to get desktop control
  3. The remote user will be prompted with User user name wants to take control of your windows desktop. Would you like to give control to username.... If the remote user can't see the request they should ensure the message is not hiding under another window.
  4. to grant this permission the remote user would click Yes

After permission to give you control over the remote computer you will be able to use your mouse and keyboard to control the remote computer.

To take back control the remote user will click the Middle mouse button.

Note: Since the entire desktop will be shared, the remote user must ensure no confidential information, or personal information will be visible dusting the Desktop Sharing session.
